Organizing to move

Getting ready to move can be a chaotic time; closing for your old house, securing the new home, your stuff everywhere from packing, maybe securing a job or schools for kids in a new city. As a REALTOR®, I’ve seen firsthand how much lighter the selling process becomes when families have the right support and organization strategies. Asking for help isn’t a sign that you’re giving up—it’s a way of honouring the past while preparing for the future.

I find that I can have a hard time staying focused, and that is why I keep tools and resourses ready for when I feel like I need an extra hand. One resource that I like to look at is my “10 Easy Steps to Organize Anything.” It acts like a check list that helps you break down larger organization goals into much more achievable tasks. That resourse can be applied to any organizational project, but I also have two that I always send to new buyers to help them with their move; a resource for getting connected to utilities, internet and Canada post address change, and the other, a moving checklist for the weeks leading up to your move.

It can be a lot of work, both physically and mentally, to move so much of your life, especially when you are doing it alone. It can be emotional, overwhelming, and exhausting to determine what to keep, what to pass on, and what to let go, and its much harder when you’re deciding what to do with the treasures you remember from your childhood. The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. There are wonderful local companies, such as "The Joneses", along with other professional organizers and decluttering specialists, who can help you work through the process with care and compassion. They can make an overwhelming task feel much more manageable, allowing you to focus on the memories rather than the stress.

And if these resources are just not enough support, you can always reach out to me- I’m happy to help! Below are the links to the resources I mentioned above, as well as a button to the resource page for my website.
